'zero latency' cue list?

Postby Psync » Fri Mar 02, 2018 3:43 pm

Excuse the blunt title, but:

Would it be possible to speed up the event scheduler for the cue list?

LP2 has great functionality (i.e. send note on/off per cue) for controlling musical parameters and notes on synths, samplers and loopers. The only thing that prevents me from using LP2 that way is the latency that comes with triggering a cue.

(part of my usage of LP2 has to do with triggering sounds/loops on a sampler in LP2 by using just one single drumpad. Unfortunately, the timing is almost always off)

Kind regards,

Hi
Sorry for taking so long to respond.
Are you on windows or mac ? I would like to send you a test version where we increase the precision of the cue lists from 50ms to maybe 5 ?
Just need to make sure this does not introduce any problems.

Hey Nikolai,

Nice to hear from you!

I'm on Windows 10 x64. Would love to try that test version.

...and yes, a maximum of 5 ms would be sufficient, I guess...

Many thanks!

I will test this today.

Any specific possible issues I need to look out for?

Kind regards,

No, not really. Only it is now processing the cue lists 10 times more often, it should not affect audio though.
I have not tested it much my self

First test ok. Overall responsiveness feels good. Next band rehearsal is tomorrow, that'll be the REAL test...

Keep you posted!

Dear Nikolai,

First and foremost: I apologize for reporting back so very late.

I have tested your test version on numerous occasions (gig and rehearsal) and the triggering feels very ok. (Purely out of curiosity I would like to see what happens if the cue-list is run with an interrupt of 2 to 3 ms, but that's not an official request :P )

I noticed you released version 2.2; Is the faster que list already in there? Or should I wait for the 2.3 update?

With kind regards,

Hi
Good to hear that this solved your issue, the new setting is included in 2.3 so you can update.
