do you think that it’s possible to have a fonction like in the yamaha QL and CL for use with tactile screen :"touch and turn"
you have a plugin selected on screen you touch one parameter of the plug on screen and the encoder of your midi controler command this parameter…
it can be the best and simple solution for live show with only a very small midi controler
i cant apreciate if it’s possible or not..April 3, 2016 at 06:54 #4083NikolaiKeymaster
Great idea, I use that feature on the CL console all the time.
Yes it should be possible to implement, but it won’t be possible to simply click/touch a plugin control to map it, you would need to change the value in order for it to map.
(Like the quick assign feature) This is due to limitations in the VST/AU standard.
Do you think that would be ok? might be a bit stupid for buttons, but for knobs I think it would be fine.April 3, 2016 at 11:43 #4084
i think it can be the fastest way for live show
i know we alredy have to map it’s not a problem even we can store it…(mapping all a project just before the show is not possible)
or if we can store a plugin map plug by plug and when we use lot of instance with "only when acivate"the new instance can be automaticaly maped
with the "only when activate" option it’s a new level of midi control in live show specialy with tactile screenApril 27, 2019 at 10:37 #5795
after testing some plug and some LP parameter works with touch&turn function active only if you change the value
for ex if you touch the input gain of a plugin and turn your encoder nothing happend but after you change the input gain you can control the gain with your encoder and to change the output gain you can”t by just touching the knob on LP but have to move it before control it by encoder
all encoder have a switch and i think it can be usefull to had a fuction to realease the touch assigment to prevent manipulation errorApril 27, 2019 at 11:09 #5796NikolaiKeymaster
Yes, this is because VST/AU plugins only send a command to the host when a parameter is changed, not clicked, that is why it is impossible to change assignments on touch.
The “release” command would be a good idea thoughApril 27, 2019 at 11:36 #5797
other thing when i use viewset switching via midi or keyboard shortcut the last touch on a plugin is still affected by the encoder even if the plugin is not selected
a realease option can be like the “only when selected” to prevent manipulation error
an option with selected plugin always on top can be usefull
