To be honest, I have no idea why the waves stuff behaves like it does.
The only ones who can tell what is going on is Waves support.
Being waves though, they will probably just tell you (or me) that LiveProfessor is not on their list of supported hosts, and that they will not answer any questions.
Basically, there is nothing I can do in LiveProfessor to fix this, it is all going on in a “deeper level” inside the Studio Rack plugin.
I would suggest you contact waves support on this, as it might increase the chances of them recognizing LiveProfessor. Then again, they have MutliRack so it might not be in their interest to make this work 😕

    I have an update…

I spent some time on the phone with Waves technical support and was able to get a Waves MGO/MGB setup as the interface between my live console and LP2.

Without any plugins inserted and all the buffers set as low as possible I was abble to get a 2ms round trip (I tested with SMAART for verification.

I think anyone having issues with the 74ms deal is struggling because they are still using the SG Connect protocol in some way.

    Thank you @mlcook19 !
That makes sense, so I guess this case is closed.
You need a sound grid audio interface to get this working, the SG Connect setup will not work, you will get a 74ms delay.
SG Connect will only work in a DAW as a mixing tool, where everything is buffered anyway.
Thank you for your time figuring this out.

Could you elaborate a bit? I’m thinking of the same setup on a Soundcraft right now – Madi Out -> MGO -> LP2.
So what do I have to keep in mind when interfacing with the MGO + LP2?

    Thank you!

I fetched an MGO + MADI Card for my desk yesterday to try this – 7,8 ms round trip Desk to LP2 without any plugins on the lowest buffer. This is just the digital insert RTL.

@mlcook19 it would be awesome if you can explain how you got the 2 ms RTL working with the MGO!
I’m back to testing LP2 after 3 years of absence 🙂

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I’ll be able to pull all the settings and share by this Thursday.

That would be awesome – I’m mixing a show on friday, maybe I keep the card + MGO until then.

Got some news on this today. So I hooked up a Impact server, and tested. At 48K I got an added 74 samples added latency like you guys. I then asked waves support about this and they confirmed that the sound grid-connect server/system adds a buffer of 3552 samples. Case closed, it is like this by design. 3552 samples / 48 = 74 ms, so that makes sense. So at best you could run at 96 and get 3552/96 = 37 ms This latency comes on top of what ever buffer size your sound device runs at. Pitty, was a good idea, If anyone wants a cheep sound grid server let me know

Still got that Impact server or have you sold it ?

Hey Michael, would you be able to get back to us on the settings?
    😉

    Cheers
